Vienna Chamber Philharmonics The Vienna Chamber Philharmonics were founded by Claudius Traunfellner in the fall of 1985 and consist primarily of young musicians, most of them being winners of an international award. As early as 1986 the orchestra managed to draw international attention. Since the season of 1987/88, the Vienna Chamber Philharmonics perform their own cycle in the Brahms hall of the Vienna Musikverein. In recent years, they toured Europe, Asia, and North and South America. During these tours the ensemble performed in cities like Brussels, Munich, Frankfurt, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo, Athens, Barcelona, Taipei, Tokyo, Vienna, and Salzburg. The ensemble also performed at international festivals like the Flanders festival, the Bodensee festival, the Vienna Mozart festival, the Vienna spring and summer festivals, the Vienna festival, and the festivals of Toulon, Montpellier, and St. Gallen. Its repertoire ranges from baroque over the Viennese classic to 20th century music. In spite of the ensemble's still short history, it performed a number of first performances. The musicians played with internationally renowned soloists like Wolfgang Schulz, Till Fellner, Stefan Vladar, Lisa Leonskaja, Julian Rachlin, Heinrich Schiff und Nigel Kennedy, and others.
